I have always been drawn to protest music that questions societal norms. My mom taught me that God exists outside the nine dots of human reality but operates within our perception and awareness because He loves us and desires relationship with us. Much of “Scrapbook of an Ordinary Life” is my attempt to articulate what mom taught. When I was 12, I came home from church and asked mom, “Who is right, the Bible or the person teaching it?” My mom pondered a few minutes and then came up with the answer that has been central to my life ever since: “Christianity is simple, but men make it difficult.” She went on to clarify that though believing God is simple, that does not necessarily make it easy. May the writings in “Scrapbook of an Ordinary Life” help you find your simplicity with God and help you recognize as He works in and with you.
